Microsoft has acquired ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda. This means that they have nine new development studios to their name as well as lots of huge games such as The Elder Scrolls series, Doom, Wolfenstein, Fallout, and more.

The acquisition cost Microsoft 7.5 billion dollars, and in the announcement the American giant were keen to point out that Bethesda games will show up on the Game Pass in the future.

It is thought that Microsoft will still honor the PS5 exclusivity deal for Deathloop as well as Ghostwire: Tokyo, while there’s potential for future Bethesda games to still appear on other consoles, although this will be evaluated on a game by game basis. All the latter is according to Jason Schreier, videogame reporter at Bloomberg News.

The major announcement comes a day before pre-orders go live for the Xbox Series X as well as the Xbox Series S.
